Ganja case: Chennai cop dismissed from service

CHENNAI: A sub-inspector attached to the Marina police station here was dismissed from service on Tuesday following an inquiry into a ganja case.

Chennai city commissioner of police A K Viswanathan issued the order terminating the service of sub-inspector Sundara Vadivelu, 54.

The charge against him was that he hid 30kg of ganja in his house after seizing it during a vehicle check near War Memorial here in 2017 when he was working in the the B3 Fort police station.

He seized 30kg of ganja from a vehicle and demanded bribe from the occupants to release it. But the smugglers didn’t give him bribe. Vadivelu took the contraband to his house without informing his seniors. More
