The City Police arrested a 26-year-old-man on charge of peddling drugs including Lysergic acid diethylamide, popularly known as LSD, at a a rave party at Rushikonda Beach on Saturday.
The accused has been identified as Manukonda Satyanarayana, a resident of Seethampeta area.
According to police, he was arrested in the past for his alleged invovement in ganja smuggling activities.
Though there were reports that two rave parties were organised at Rushikonda and Thotlakonda on Saturday night with alleged supply of LSD and ganja, the police said that that only one party was held. The party reportedly continued on the sand dunes till the early hours of Sunday.
“More than 50 youngsters, including 10 girls, participated in the rave party. So far, one person has been detained and small quantity of LSD has been seized,” City Police Commissioner Mahesh Chandra Laddha said.
Arilova Police Station Inspector K. Ashok Kumar said that preliminary investigation suggested that the accused had procured the LSD from Goa. The police seized 0.5 gm of the contraband from his possession.
LSD, also commonly known as ‘acid’, is a psychedelic drug that causes illusions in those who consume it and alters their thought process.
Case handed over to CTF
Suspecting that some organised gangs had organised the rave party, the police handed over the case to the City Task Force (CTF) for an in-depth investigation and to nab the key accused in the case.
Liquor, ganja and LSD were allegedly served at the party and local people spotted the bottles during their visit to the beach on Sunday.
The police said that the main organisers of the rave party reportedly had fled, adding that all the accused would be nabbed soon. More
