They were arrested by the Kochiexcise circle officers during a raid conducted based on a tip-off.

According to officers, the arrested youths have been identified as the members of a gang, popularly known as ‘Malavedans’. The accused persons are Rahul T S alias Malavedan (26) of South Puthuvypu, Nahas P S (21) of Thekkan Malippuram and Vineesh Nair (22) of Elamkunnapuzha. The gang had been earlier identified by the excise for their involvement in interstate drug sales and fresh trade.

“The gang used girls to bring in ganja from Tamil Nadu. Their modus operandi was using hired cars to drive to Tamil Nadu with the girls in the name of excursions and on their return they carried ganja and other drugs in bulk quantities. They said that the girls were used for flesh trade too. We have taken into custody a car used by them,” said an officer. More
