Two drug peddlers die in Rohtak jail, kin protest

HISAR: Family members of two men, who died in Rohtak jail after they were arrested for smuggling ganja with nine others on October 19, staged a protest outside the office of Narnaund sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) with the body of one of the deceased. The protesters lifted the sit-in after the administration gave an assurance providing compensation of Rs 10 lakh and one government job each to the families.

Accused Pikey and Pujara were among 11 persons arrested for smuggling 90kg ganja by the crime investigation agency wing of the Rohtak police. Pikey died on October 29 at the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (PGIMS) in Rohtak during treatment. Police said both accused had dengue fever and during treatment in the hospital. More
